Mughals At The Museum

Last weekend, we went to the Asian Civilisations Museum for an Open House event, and relished the special exhibition "Jewelled Arts of India in the Age of the Mughals".

Needless to say, the exhibits were all highly blinged-out, some with serious slap-in-the-face sized rubies, sapphires and emeralds. Other than just jewelry, stuff like hair grips, trinket boxes, belts and swords were also studded with gems. It was a feast for the eyes, and a very interesting insight.

It was Open House, so entrance was for free, plus they had various activities for the kids, including jewelry making, crafting of a 3-D cardboard Taj Mahal, and archery. Those Two had a blast!

Maya has a go at being a Mughal prince. If I had emeralds and diamonds studded in my chess set, I'd be grinning like that too...
