New stuff at Etsy

So far so good. ;) I am looking to keep adding to my Etsy shop.

I figure I really should expand on concepts like how I did with the Chic and Unique hoops, and churn out a few of the Sunburst hoops in a few colours.

This turquoise version is happily hippie chic. I love how it has such a light and airy feeling, yet is so striking.

Next up, possibly malachite and white howlite versions... Watch this space! ;)

New stuff at Etsy

It's been too long since I put up anything new. My bad. Work just keeps getting hijacked by Life. ;S From now on, I am going to stop neglecting my Etsy shop, and try and list something new every week or so.

So to start with, a striking red coral and brass number, wire wrapped in sunburst fashion. Sexy, flirty, and if I so may add, rather rambunctious. Doesn't it just make you wanna head out and have some fun? :)

"The Most Outstanding Sandwich Ever"

That's according to Maya, on her very own recipe: Peanut Butter on White Bread stuffed with Multigrain Seaweed flavoured chips...

Nyes. Foodies, we are not. O_O

Gratuitous fabulous jewelry pic

Large Antique Lace Cuff
by Alkemie
US$190 at ecostiletto

Alkemie is the husband-and-wife design team of Ashley Lowengrub and Dara Gerson. Crafted from repurposed metals, the motif from this lovely piece is plucked directly from Dara's grandmother's antique lace. Every piece is made to order. And with every purchase, a portion of the proceed goes to charity.

Gorgeous, eco-friendly, and charitable cause - what's there not to love!

My Taekwondo Kids

Ruhi receives her Blue-Tip Belt from Teacher Rene in a little ceremonious affair...

Then, there's time for a quick pose for Mummy's camera...

... before getting laced up by Teacher Ryu for some sparring action. Hai-yah!

In other taekwondo news, Maya made it through her Black Belt grading, and will receive her Black Belt (complete with her name embroidered on) and Black Belt uniform in a separate, more elaborate grading ceremony, complete with speeches and demonstrations, in September.

Leonard RTW S/S 2010

Outstanding stuff from the established French house of Leonard. I love the complicated geometric ethnic look coupled with a very relaxed palette, which magically gives it an age-old, yet modern feel.

One Of These Days...

Yep, it's one of those things that gotta be done. I'd say, once every one or two weeks should do us all some good.

I have been busy, can you tell?

Unfortunately, not so much on the creative, jewelry-making side. I have been busy with Life. The dog got sterilised (looking after a pet after surgery is seriously no joke), Maya fell ill (all the rehearsing for the Youth Olympic Games opening ceremony), decluttering and cleaning of the house...

Now that I've just been confirmed to do an exclusive special for Isetan in Kuala Lumpur, I must put nose to grindstone and get some wire bent.

But not before I do one of these major sleep-ins to recharge my batteries... :)

New Commissioned Stuff

Customed for A, who wanted this to go with her ensemble of Joy bracelets (available at colette), this 3-strand bracelet features some seriously lovely hand-faceted turquoise.

I love how the rather random faceting and the natural mottling of the stone gives it so much character, and lends to it a luxe yet organic look. 925 silver accents, and amethyst, a freshwater pearl coin, and faceted fuchsia agate charms complete the look.

I love how this has turned out. It's elegant, with a dash of bohemian luxe, and a good dose of fun. And it's going to look so cool with a symphony of Joy silver... :)

Thanks ever so much for the opportunity, A!

Long Break = Time for Declutter

There was the weekend, and then Monday was a public hol, and today, a school hol, all for National Day. Happy birthday, Singapore!

So we took the opportunity to clear out some junk in the house.

Actually, "some" is quite the understatement. We had bags and bags, and bags, of stuff. One of the neighbours thought we were moving out!

But, I have got to say, decluttering is quite cathartic. So much of the stuff had memories attached, but if we were to hang on to every one of them, things would get seriously out of hand. It's amazing how being in the present requires so much of letting go of the past. :)

Gratuitous fabulous jewelry pic(s)

Amethyst and Sapphire Cuff
by M.C.L. by Matthew Campbell Laurenza
US$ 1,570

You have just got to see his other stuff. I am so in love with how it's a got a Byzantine feel, tastefully blinged out with whole lot of attitude.

My sister was sporting a stunning smoky quartz ring the other day I met up with her. Needless to say, I was very pleased to have a touchy-feely go at it. It looked SO good.

As such, I am off to the MCL shop at Ion to have a touchy-feely go at the others. Yes, I shall be having a lot of fun. :)

Bonding Over iPad

Yes, there is an iPad in the house. Though I hardly touch it, it has proven a lifesaver during times of threatening boredom and Those Two's getting all cranky with each other. At least Those Two are occupied, and make it a point to play nicely, lest they get iPad time-out. ;)
