As someone who aspired to become a professional ballerina in her childhood (studied for 16 years only to have my dreams of the corps de ballet derailed by a serious back injury and significant growth spurt,) this video gave me CHILLS! That extension! That line! She's incredible!
Just as exciting as her performance was the audience reaction - we so rarely get that kind of audience participation during a ballet performance here in the states.
I swear it amazes me how she makes it look so effortless and so graceful. 'Coz I realise how goddamned difficult it actually is. I've never done ballet myself, but the real Maya and Ruhi do. And although Maya is only in Grade 3, I see the amount of work these little girls all put in. More importantly though, they all love going for lessons every single time. :)
So sorry to hear about your injury and growth spurt! I hope you are still involved in dance some form or the other. 16 years of training is such a long time! I suppose being able to appreciate ballet is one of the ups of having trained. Yes, Eun-ji Ha is certainly one of the best. :)
