I am so happy how this turned out! :D

First we rolled out some clay and cut the clay to size for the band. Then we dried the band before syringe-ing the lines and adding the little balls on. It was really that simple! The intricacies were more to do with the sizing, and the figuring out for the compensation of the shrinkage of the clay after firing.
