Superheadaches

Yes, I am a migraine sufferer. For about 4 days a month, I am paralysed by what feels like a skewer going right through my skull just above my left eye.

So, at this point, I scoff down certain painkillers - Naproxen, Tramadol, etc (not all at one time though). And because I need to take these painkillers, I need to eat. And because I need to eat (even when I am not hungry), I put on a few pounds. And because I put on a few pounds, I get a bit upset. On top of feeling fat and unwell, I am unproductive, cranky and depressed. Argh, or what, huh?

So basically nothing can help me. Except, maybe, for an entire day of lolling about in bed, cradling and pounding on my head alternatively. I warn Them Two about The Headache, and they instinctively know to put in a little more effort around the house, and talk to me only when absolutely necessary.

Thing is, I just hope Them Two have not inherited this. Poor dears...

In A Twist Over Crochet

I rediscovered crochet a couple of weeks ago. And here is what I made so far...

A scarf and fingerless glove set for my husband... Yes, FINGERLESS gloves. They work, apparently. (And please do excuse the super-skanky nails...)

A scarf for my sister-in-law...

...a scarf for Maya...

... and more to come...

Yes, I have been hyper-productive with my new thing-to-do. And today was a culmination of my newfound obssession...

First, I overslept this morning, from a late night of feverish (but satisfying) crocheting. Me and Maya had to make a mad dash for the school bus, after getting dressed and ready in a record time of 5 minutes. Then, in the evening, I took Ruhi for her swimming lessons - without her swimming costume. We had no choice but to abandon the lesson, and head for an early dinner.

I just could not believe it. My obssessive crocheting is affecting the lives of my children! Bad news or what, eh? At some point, I muttered how disappointed I was with myself, and Ruhi quickly gave me a big hug, and said, "It's OK, it's only a mistake. You're still the best mother in the world." Aww... :)

So tonight, I will be having an early night. And ignoring my crochet bag, no matter how loud it screams.

Gratuitous fabulous jewelry pic

DANNIJO are sisters Danielle and Jodie Snyder, who credit their inventiveness for gorgeous jewelry to a coming together of their very different aesthetics.

Danielle is into boho-chic and rock n' roll, while Jodie is into Old Hollywood glam and classical elegance. As a result, their pieces are luxe and edgy at the same time, a curious and exciting mix of unabashed grand dame and rebellious teenager.

M.I.A.

For the past two days, I have deemed myself too uninteresting to blog.

I mean, who would want to know that I am having trouble coming up with names for some of the pieces in my latest Marie Antoinette Collection? Or that I am crazy-busy finishing up a couple of big custom orders? Or am experiencing major frustration with holiday bookings? Or spending hours at the children's hospital having Maya's archilles injury x-rayed and physio-ed? Or writing to-do list after to-do list of, well, Things To Do?

Yep, it's a hodge-podge of Life that has claimed me for the past couple of days. Things crop up.

And now, as I am trying to upload a pic for this post, I am getting a "newsflash" from blogspot that image uploads are temporarily disabled... Oh, well.

In Conversation with Ruhi

Me: How was school today?

Ruhi: Good! Do you know, that I am the only Indian girl in my Chinese class, and the only Chinese girl in my Hindi class? (look of awe)

Me: Hmm... interesting! (mirrored look of awe)

Ruhi: So I am the only person who can speak Hindi AND Chinese. (big grin)

Me: Wow! That is SO cool!

Ruhi: (Even bigger grin)

Sneak Peek at The MAYA & RUHI Marie Antoinette Collection

I have always been fascinated by the ill-fated French queen. And when Sofia Coppola did "Marie Antoinette" (2006), based on Antonia Fraser's biography, I was just knocked off my socks.

Kirsten Dunst did a stupendous job, portraying Marie Antoinette as a naive sweet soul, generous to a fault, and completely unaware of politico, which ultimately caused her downfall.

*Click on the movie still above to watch the trailer.

The costumes, the set, the art direction were all very close to actual historical detail. I love how Coppola kept this fierce vigil over historical accuracy of the costumes, furniture and set; and yet gave the movie a tone of rock 'n roll edge. It helped bring to light that the young royals were really just a bunch of teenagers.

*Click on the movie still above to watch an excerpt from the movie, where a pair of Converse shoes makes a fleeting cameo. See if you can spot it! ;)

"Let Them Eat Cake"? Apparently not so true after all...

Sunrise From My Window

I am keeping my fingers crossed that today will be a good day. Yesterday, I managed to finish off 2 necklaces towards the new collection due out in KL, in November. Today, I shall give the fingers a break, and gallavant about town with Ruhi.

Yes, it will be a good day. :)
(Aren't those some serious-gorgeous blues?)

Dog Days

Sundays are Sophie's-Bath days.

Maya takes very good care of Sophie, from clearing newspapers off the pee-tray every day, to giving her a bath every week.

So THAT'S where my Body Shop shower gels went... :S

Ruhi occasionally joins in and, through Maya's example, showers loving care on her beloved "dog", Furlow. While she's at it, Junglee the cuddly Orang Utan, and Nana the beanie Baby, also get a good wash up.

Unlike Sophie though, who gets a pampering hair-drying session, Furlow, Junglee and Nana get a good spin in the washing machine.

Monthly Giveaway

Up for grabs this month, a super-cute Baby Klimt, with pink jade, turquoise polymer clay, and Swarovski cream pearl. The rest of it is of non-tarnish silver wire, and sterling silver ear wire.

On another note, I cannot believe October is already here. I still remember celebrating Christmas like it was a couple of months back. And now, it's only a couple of months away! Time really flies when you're having fun. Or, as in my case, when you're stupidly busy.

Just leave a comment at this post if you are interested in receiving these for free! The winner will be announced on October 7th's post, so you have until then to leave your comment... Good luck!
